WAYNESBORO – Luther Leonard Pucket, 77, of Nellysford died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb.26, 1963) in a Staunton hospital.
He was a member of the Wintergreen Christian Church and was born March 27, 1885 in Nelson County, a son of the late Robert S. and Mary Truslow Puckett.
His wife, Mrs. Nannie Thompson Puckett, died on Feb. 23, 1961.
Surviving include one son, Chesley H. Puckett, Roseland, three daughters, Mrs. Wallace Thompson, Mrs. S. C. Napier, both of Nelly Ford, and Mrs. Clement Sprouse, Fordwick; one brother, Joseph Puckett, Miller School; five sisters, Mrs. Robbie Campbell, Greenfield, Mrs. Mammie Dameron, Mrs. Nellie Thompson, both of Afton; Mrs. Harriett Henderson, Waynesboro; and Mrs. Kate Mawyer, Charlottesville; also a number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
The body will remain at the Etter funeral home until noon Thursday when it will be taken to the Wintergreen Christian Church where funeral services will be held at two p.m., conducted by the Rev. J. D. Farries with burial in the church cemetery.
