NELLYSFORD – Rethie Thompson Meeks, 86, of Nellysford, died Saturday morning in Waynesboro Community Hospital.
She was the widow of Massie M. Meeks and was born in Nelson County, Dec. 10, 1894.
She was a daughter of the late Massie and Catherine Truslow Thompson.
She was a member of Wintergreen Christian Church and is survived by one son, Woodrow W. Meeks of Nellysford; a stepson, Thomas Campbell of Waynesboro; a brother, J. William Thompson of Nellysford; two sisters, Maggie T. Thomas and Robbie T. Harris, both of Nellysford; three step-children and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. tomorrow in Wintergreen Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Cecil Rhodes. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Preston Parr Funeral Home in Roseland.
Active pallbearers will be Fred Phillips, Maxie Campbell, Leslie Graves, Joseph Lawhorne, Jerome Thomas and Gail Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Thomas, Michael Thomas, Nelson Davis, Herbert Truslow, Chesley Puckett, Worthy Thompson, Page Grove, Phillip Thompson, Russell Thompson and Tony Thompson.
Additional Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Davis. Also members of the Sunday School Class.
