18 Dec 1914: George H. Batdorf, a widely known and highly esteemed retired carpenter, died this morning from diabetes, following a protracted illness, at his home in Myerstown. In former years Mr. Batdorf was a member of the Jackson township school board taking a deep interest in educational work. He was 61 years old and leaves a wife. He was a member of the Lutheran church. The funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock with services at the house in charge of Rev. W.S. Dry, of the Stouchsburg Lutheran church.
