Mrs. Alice Spillman Ogden Dies Friday, After Short Illness

The untimely passing of Mrs. Alice Spillman Ogden, Friday, August 2, came as a shock and surprise to her loved ones and friends.

Since the death of her late husband, Mr. Joseph W. Ogden, in 1933, Mrs. Ogden had been spending the winter month at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Browning, in New Castle, Ind., and the summer months with her son, Carl Spillman and family, on the farm at Sligo.
On the morning of August 14 she arose very early and in some unknown way, fell from a porch step, fracturing her right hip. She was removed to Mallory-Taylor hospital, LaGrange, under the care of a doctor and special nurse and at the time no apparent alarm was specially felt, but on the morning of Friday, August 23 her condition grew suddenly very much worse, and at 4:10 p. m. she died.

Funeral services were conducted at Sligo Baptist church by her pastor, Rev. C. F. Moffit. Burial in the Bedford I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Mts. Ogden was born in Trimble county, November 9, 1860, and would have been 80 years of age her next birthday. She professed faith in Christ at the early age of 13, when she identified herself in Baptism with the Sligo Baptist church where she remained all her Christian life of 67 years.
United in Marriage to Archie E. Spillman in 1882 by the Rev. Andrew Jackson, a minister of the Baptist church.

After the death of Mr. Spillman in 1910, she was again married to Mr. Joseph W. Ogden in 1925, who died in 1933.
In the death of Mrs. Ogden a very highly honored and deserving family have lost a great Christian mother, the church a most beloved and faithful member, the entire community a wonderful and fine Christian counsellor and friend.
