We learn that John G. Post, Esq., of the town of Boonville, died on the 9th inst. after a short illness of only three days.
Mr. Post was seventy-six years of age, and during his long life has been an active business man and a much esteemed citizen.
He came to Boonville sixty years ago in the employ of Mr. Boon, one of the proprietors of the Holland Land Company, and after the return of Mr. Boon to Holland, he entered into the mercantile business with the late Peter Schuyler. Since he retired from trade he has devoted himself to agricultural pursuits.
Mr. Post was a kind neighbor, an affectionate parent and an upright citizen. He died in the full use of his faculties, and met death with calmness and resignation. His death will be a loss to the town in which he lived, and be regretted by a large circle of friends.
