Charles Joseph McCue, 80, of 1829 E. Jefferson St., died at 12:35 a.m. Sunday at St. John's Hospital.
Mr. McCue was the son of Cornelius and Sarah McCue.
He was a member of the Springfield Fire Dept. for 42 years and at the time of his retirement was driver for the Fire Chief.
He and his wife, Catherine, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary October 12, 1960.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus Council 364.
Surviving are his widow, Catherine Ann; five sons, John, Francis, Cornelius, and Joseph, all of Springfield [editor note: 5th son not listed]; three daughters, Mrs. Mary K. Patton, Mrs. James Drew and Mrs. Robert Ford, all of Springfield; two brothers, Frank, of Springfield; and James, of Peoria; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Coleman, of Springfield; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at SS. Peter and Paul Church.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
