Mildred "Mickie" Anita Hamaker Morgan, was born October 11, 1934 to Fred and Tessie Elizabeth Akery in Wedowee, Alabama and passed away March 14, 2021 at her home in Bakersfield, CA from complications of dementia with Lewy bodies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, of 48 years, Marlin Brent Hamaker, Sr.; brothers, Manley Akery, Melton J. Akery, sister Jimmie Sue Schonomann; grandson's Joel Alexander Hamaker, Christian Lane Avila, and granddaughter Courtney Marie Young.

She is survived by her husband William David Morgan; sisters, Josie Lee Amsbry, and Nellie Fay Holmes-Leon (Cyril); children Marlin Brent Hamaker, Jr., Marla Jill Baldwin, and Alan Young (Patty); stepchildren Willam Tad Morgan (Emiko), Melissa D. Morgan-Sanchez (Daniel); grandchildren Melissa Katherine Young, Brandon Scott Avila, and Cameron Paul Avila; and great-grandchildren Carson Lane Avila and Lilly Marie Avila.

She lived most of her adult life in Bakersfield, CA, having arrived in 1955. Mildred's husband Marlin passed away in 2004. Mildred would marry William David Morgan in 2007, living in Tucson, AZ from 2008 until 2015; after being diagnosed with dementia with Lewy bodies, she then split time between Tucson and Tehachapi from 2013 to 2015, and subsequently, in 2017, moved from Tehachapi back to Bakersfield in order to be closer to family for care and assistance with her dementia.

She loved fishing, driving the RV here, there and everywhere - mountains, beaches and all across the U.S.; and, she enjoyed county music and in her travels she reveled in not just getting autographs of the country music stars but taking pictures with them and getting to sit down, talk and even a have a meal with some of them.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 59 years; loved studying the Bible, quoting Scripture, going to Gospel meetings, a cappella singing and fellowship with her Christian family. She was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed for her big smile and her generosity of lovingly caring and giving to others.

Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a small, private family service. A celebration of life will be planned at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to Bristol (Optimal) Hospice Foundation.
