Ruth was born to Albert and Gussie Burns Wooten on July 5, 1917 in Lee County, Arkansas. She married Vermon Gist, and the couple had two daughters, Carol and Gladys.
Ruth was a farm wife, enjoying the changing seasons; loving her family, the farm life, and her flowers.
She is survived by daughters Carol Wilson and husband Don of Mountain View, AR; Gladys Rogers and husband Perry of Sherwood, AR; sisters Mitty Yop of Salinas, CA; and Annie Dees of Rondo, AR; brothers Grover Wooten of Collierville, TN; W.J. Wooten of Center Ridge, AR; Leon Wooten and wife Darlene of Rondo, AR; David Wooten and wife Judy of Lonsdale, AR; sister-in-law Freeda Burgess of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren Ashley Wilson of Tulsa, OK; Jamey Sharp of Crawfordsville, AR; Leslie Decker of Mountain View, AR; and Emily Clements of Huntsville, AL; nine great-grandchildren, and many friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Vermon, her parents, and one sister, Christine Harding.
Services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna, Arkansas at 2:00 P.M., with burial to follow at LaGrange Cemetery, LaGrange, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Sunday at 4:00 P.M. also at Roller-Citizens.
