Phillip Thane Moon

Phillip Thane Moon was born on April 8th, 1954 and went to be with the Lord on March 22nd, 2021. Phillip was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He grew up in Gwinnett County and graduated from South Gwinnett High School in 1972. He attended Dekalb Community College and Georgia Perimeter College where he earned his two Associates degrees. In 1974, he married his wife Brenda and moved to Loganville where they raised their three children. Phillip was a devout member and deacon at Lenora Baptist Church in Snellville. One of his passions was music and, for many years, he was the song leader and choir director at the church. When his boys were younger, he was a Cub Master with Pack 535 and went on to receive many accolades in boy scouting. Phillip was a member of Snellville Chapter 513 Order of the Eastern Star and Fergus Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. 135. He spent many years working at Rockwell International and Boeing in Quality Control. He retired from GS YUASA Lithium Battery Division on June 4th, 2020. His favorite past times were spending time with his family, reading, watching classic TV shows and Hallmark movies, playing FreeCell on the computer, swimming, making Brunswick stew, and raising hogs. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and LaRue Moon, and by his brother, Milton Moon. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Moon; son, Jeremy Moon; his favorite grand-dog Lucy; son and daughter-in-law, Jonah and Ashley Moon; grandchildren, Genesis and Abel Moon; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Moon and Pablo Bartolon Perez; grandson, Braydon Bartolon-Moon; brother and sister-in-law, Tracy and Gloria Moon; along with several nieces and nephews. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Lenora Baptist Church, 4136 Lenora Church Road SW, Snellville, Georgia 30039. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Lenora Baptist Church. Rev. JT Witcher and Rev. Terry Rolader will officiate. Interment will follow at Lenora Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Terry Briscoe officiating. Mr. Moon will lie in state from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Church prior to the service.
