Mrs. Walter Kusenberger, nee Frieda Mund of Fredericksburg, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at the age of 95 years.

Frieda was born on June 13, 1923 in Doss, Texas to Emil and Frieda Knopp Mund. She was named after her mother, Frieda, who passed away when she was three days old. Frieda was raised by Theodore and Herminia Kroll Knopp and Ida Knopp.

She worked at the Fredericksburg Bakery, Cody Bradshaw Pharmacy and for 17½ years at Walmart.

She was confirmed at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School in the class of 1942.

Frieda was married to John D. Hudnut on Jan. 8, 1943 and had three children, Lester, Patricia and Nancy.

She married Walter Kusenberger on April 6, 1953 and had one daughter, Lois.

Frieda is survived by two daughters and spouses, Patricia and Richard Goewe of Comfort and Lois and Duane Weidenfeller of Fredericksburg; and a daughter-in-law, Adonia, Mrs. Lester Hudnut of Arkansas.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and her two beloved cats, Tassie and Midnight.

Frieda is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Frieda Knopp Mund; both husbands, John D. Hudnut and Walter L. Kusenberger; two sisters, three brothers and spouses, Esther and Marvin Klein, Robert and Laura Lee Mund, Ted and Marie Mund, Elgin and Elise Mund and Hermina and Oscar Krauskopf; a brother-in-law and spouse, Edwin and Adela Kusenberger; one son, Lester Hudnut; one daughter, Nancy Schmidt; one grandson, John Scott Hudnut, and one granddaughter-in-law, Debbie, Mrs. Ricky Goewe; grandparents, Theodore and Hermina Knopp; aunt, Ida Knopp; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Mina Kusenberger; and nephews, Billy Mund, Sydney Mund, Larry Mund, Michael Mund and Robert Mund Jr.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 10:30 a.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg with Rev. David Priem and Rev. Adonia Hudnut officiating.

Cremation followed with a private interment of her cremains at a later date.

Visitation was held at the funeral chapel on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 21, from 7-10:30 a.m. For those who so desire, you may make memorial contributions in her memory to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
