Son of James and Mary (Higgins) Mayhew. He grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett High School in 1944. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1946 as a private in the 6th Tank Battalion. After he returned home, he met Eileen P Deveau. They were married on Nov. 4th 1950 and lived in Rockland. He participated in the 2012 Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eileen; granddaughter, Megan; and brother, the Rev. Thomas C Mayhew. He is survived by his children, Thomas P Mayhew and his wife, Bonnie of West Bridgewater, Patricia E Mongillo of CT, and Nancy M Baldwin and her husband, John of GA; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Peter, Kerrie, Christopher, Scott, Joseph, David; and sister, Beverly R Hartery of Abington.
