A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. today in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Seekonk for Rev. Thomas C. Mayhew, pastor of that church since 1977. Father Mayhew died of cancer Monday at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. He was 60.
Born in Starks, Maine, Father Mayhew later lived in Everett, MA and graduated from Cathedral High School in Boston. He received a master's degree in education from a Maryknoll Seminary and completed his formal studies at St. John's Seminary in Brighton.
He was ordained to the priesthood in 1957 by Bishop James Connolly and celebrated his first Mass at his home parish, the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston..."
