Utica – Donald C. Gardner, 90, of 219 Lenox Ave, Oneida, and Preston Hill, Camden, died Sunday morning Dec. 30, 2006, at Loretta, Utica, where he had been a resident since April 2001.
He was born in Floyd, on May 16, 1916, the son of Henry and Cora Chase Gardner. He was first married to Eleanor VanVleck. He later married the former Catherine Plunkett Haley.
Mr. Gardner was employed with Oneida Ltd. Silversmith’s for 32 years, retiring in 1978. He was a life member of the Order of Owls, Oneida Nest No 1606 and the Durhamville Fire Department.
Surviving are his former wife, Catherine Plunkett Gardner, of Camden; two sons and daughter’s-in-law, Ronald and Louise Gardner of Durhamville and Barry and Margaret Gardner of Ashville, N.C., two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Donald Seamon of Vernon and Charlene Wilson of Rome, one brother, Edwin Gardner of Deansboro, three sisters; Dorothy Hurlbut of Camden, Marian Gregory of Remsen, and Betty Stevens of California, two step-sons, William and ally Haley of Camden and Timothy Haley of Camden; two stepdaughters, Kathy and Bill Morgan of Rome and Mary Pickerd of Camden, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several step grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and Charles Gardner; a sister, Elsie Longley and a stepson-in-law. Bob Pickerd.
