Ira A. Welch. Memorial services for Ira A. "Ike" Welch, 78, of 69 Pearl St., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Israel Irizarria officiating. Mr. Welch died Wednesday morning in the Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born Aug. 26, 1907, in Clarksfield, Ohio, to the late Robert W. and Cora M. (Arnold) Welch. He was a retired farmer and also worked for Jutlew; and was a member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church and Franklin Grange 1797. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Horn) Welch of Newark; one son, Arthur P. Welch Sr. of Newark; six daughters: Theresa Beth Bailey of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jane Stump of Oberlin, Ohio, Joan Leimeister, Wellington, Ohio, Ruth Dehner of Lake Davlin, Ohio, and Rena Catlin and Faith Wheeler, both of Newark; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elma Jackson of Norwalk, Ohio. One daughter, two sisters and four brothers are deceased. There will be no calling hours. Criss Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
