Jane Golden Stump (nee Welch)
Jane Stump, 81 of Pittsfield, passed peacefully on January 9, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.
Born November 2, 1934 in Olena, Ohio, Jane grew up and lived in the area. She has lived in Pittsfield for the last 36 years.
Jane was a member of Pittsfield Community Church.
Jane not only ran the home and raised the “kids” but worked beside her husband at his gas and service stations from 1959 until 1972.
She was extremely creative and it showed in her joy of sewing and gardening. Jane made dolls and dressed them in outfits she created, selling them from Jane’s Merchantile located at Jamie’s Flea Market and East Oberlin Flea market for 17 years. Her creations were shipped and treasured all over the United States as well as some that traveled to find homes in Ireland.
Jane’s home was her pride and joy. She loved her flower gardens and spent many peace-filled hours nurturing each plant and finding just the right spot for them. She also volunteered at Oberlin Allen Hospital in the gift shop for 7 years.
Jane is survived by her husband Dennis. She was a loving and devoted wife and they just celebrated their 64th anniversary in October. She is survived by daughters, Denise (Roger) Johnson of Elyria and Maria (William) Fox of Baltimore Ohio and daughter-in-law, Sheri Richards Stump of Elyria. She was loving grandmother to Lisa (Randy) Maschari, Nicole (Don) Johnson-Easterday, Heather (William) Lottes, Sara (Nick) Garver, John (Stacie) Stump and Jeff (Corinna) Diederich and great grandmother to Zackary Tollett, Destiny and Bryce Funk, Haylee Garver, Logan Schrader, Malayna Stump, Karissa and Kyle Diederich. Sisters: Joan (Frank) Leimeister of Huron and Theresa Bailey of Bloomsburg, Pa.
Jane was preceded in death by son Jeffery Lynn, July 2013, son John Ira, March 1957 and daughter Julia Ann also in March 1957, her parents, Ira and Evelyn Welch, sisters, Ruth Dehner and Lorena Catlin and brother Dick Welch.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 12 from 2-7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Camden Cemetery.
