On Wednesday, March 10, John Stewart Gale, kind, loving and humorous father of two, passed away at the age of 74. He was born on November 30, 1946, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, to Joseph and Harriet Gale.

He worked at the State Health Laboratory for over 25-years, but his real passion was nature including birding, reptiles, and botany.

He was married to Rosemary Insana, a beautiful woman who was his rock and captured his heart for 47 years; she passed away on April 30, 2020. Nonetheless, her memory lived on with him. They raised a lovely daughter named Mary and taught her how to love others unconditionally and a kind-hearted son, Johnny, whom he also loved immensely.

John enjoyed long walks, ran marathons in his 20s-30s, rode his beach cruiser from 50-100 miles per weekend. He taught his daughter and son about reptiles, collecting butterflies and the harmony of nature. He was a conservationist of nature and humanity and loved history, especially the Civil War and Native American culture.

John is survived by his son Johnny, daughter Mary, and Mary’s husband Jerame. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Sam, daughter-in-law Vera and nephew, Frank. A Catholic mass will be held for him at St. Gregory’s church. He will rest at St. Francis Cemetery, Phoenix ARizona.

Arrangements entrusted to Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, Avondale.
