Yes, I would agree that this was his wife. When in Cairo, Georgia (he was pastor) in the late 1970s-early 1980s, neither had a doctoral degree at that time. They did have at least 2 sons. After moving from Cairo, he did indeed get his, and seems a close friend of theirs told me they had divorced which might explain the separate headstones after they moved to Florida.
