Gwendolyn Martin, 81, of Gholson, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with the Rev. Marvin Donnell and the Rev. Gary Kreder officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Gwen was born in Crawford, to the late William Thomas and Pearl (Duckett) Hurst. She married Troy Martin on May 1, 1955, in Waco. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of the Gholson Baptist Church. Gwendolyn loved to take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her husband, Troy, of Gholson; sons, Jeffrey Alton Martin and wife, Teresa, of Merritt Island, Fla., and Russell Thomas Martin and wife, Teresa, of Waco; sister, Pauline Welch, of Dallas; grandchildren, Michael Martin, of Pensacola, Fla., Christopher Martin and Joseph Martin, of Merritt Island, Fla., Fleisha Tunmire, of Waco, and Steven Whited, of Elm Mott; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Tunmire and Trevor Tunmire, of Waco, and Amelia Martin, of Pensacola, Fla.
