A. Rebecca Ammerman, 88, of Westport, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Mrs. Ammerman had worked at Cummins as a file clerk for six years, three years during World War II and three years after the war, and followed that job by being a homemaker. She volunteered at Crossroads Christian School, was a founding member of Crossroads Commuinty Church, a member of a home extension club in Geneva Township and a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and played for the Til-I.I. Singers, enjoyed quilting, sewing and playing with the grandkids. Her daily Bible study was very important to her.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church with the Revs.Tracy McIntyre, Daniel Shaw and Earl E. Golf officiating. Calling will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope and on Saturday from 10:00 until service time at the church. Burial will be at Bearcreek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Community Church.

Born in Bartholomew County Oct. 30, 1924, Mrs. Ammerman was the daughter of Glen D. Bowers Sr. and Lottie Rust Bowers. She married Fred R. Ammerman Jr. Dec. 23, 1945, and he preceded her in death June 27, 2000.

Survivors include children, David R. (Lori) Ammerman of Scipio, Mary (Jack) Northart of Colorado Springs. CO, Martha (Gary) Burriss of Elizabethtown and Joe (Kim A.) Ammerman of Westport; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Thelma (Bob) Foist of Burnsville and Bertha Studler of Columbus.

Mrs. Ammerman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Charles Edward Ammerman; sisters, Genevieve Shaw and Sylvia Raney; a brother, Glen D. Bowers Jr.; and a granddaughter, Myriah Burriss.
