Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Yancey Brooks, 33, former Oneonta resident, were held Thursday, March 8, at 2 o’clock, at the Central Avenue Baptist Church, Alabama City. The Rev. S.S. Davis and the Rev. H.J. Beasley, of Oneonta, officiated.

Daughter of J.W. Yancey and Mrs. Vesta Yancey, both of Oneonta, Mrs. Brooks was reared here and attended local schools. She and her husband, Sgt. Paul Ray Brooks, were residents of Alabama City until last October, when they and their family moved to Frankfurt, Germany. She died there suddenly February 20 at 10:00 AM.

Surviving besides the husband and parents are two sons, Talmadge Ray and Kenneth Wayne Brooks; three daughters, Marie Elaine, Linda Lou, and Mary Elizabeth Brooks; six sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Emerson, Mrs. Adele Buse, Mrs. Lula Mullins, Mrs. Margaret Higginbotham, all of Oneonta; Mrs. A.F. Holliday, Alabama City, and Mrs. J.D. Harris, East Gadsden; three brothers, Douglas and John Yancey, Oneonta, and Herman Yancey, Andalusia.

Burial was at Alabama City Cemetery, Collier-Butler directing. Active pallbearers were A.F. Holliday, J.D. Harris, Ross Mullins, D.L. Brooks, C.D. Brooks, and B.R., Satterfield.
