Janet Linville Kilpatrick, 77, of Ft. Barnwell, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
Wife of the late William "Billy" Kilpatrick, Janet lived in the Ft. Barnwell community for 51 years. She was a devoted member of Ft. Barnwell Baptist Church where she served as director of WMU, Sunday School, quilting ministry and choir member .
Prior to her retirement in 1999, she worked as a Reference Librarian for East Carolina University. Janet enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, feeding the birds or just simply reading a book.
She leaves behind a family that she loved dearly, including her sister, Gail Cuddington and husband Donnie of Kenly; sister-in-law, Betty Rose Kilpatrick Crawford and husband Dicky; brother-in-law, Bobby Kilpatrick; nieces and nephews, Lori Woodard and husband Benjy, Frank Kilpatrick and wife Mabel, Jack Kilpatrick and wife Connie, Barbara Milligan and husband Greg, Ricky Crawford, and JoLynne Braxton and husband Chad; as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for friends and family will be held just prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00am on Saturday, March 13th at Ft. Barnwell Baptist Church, followed by the service at 11:00am. with the Reverends George Tumlin and Reese Blanchett officiating.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the church cemetery. In consideration of the pandemic and for the safety of everyone, guests are asked to please wear a facial covering and maintain social distance. The family will receive friends at Janet's home in the days leading up to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Baptist Children's Home of NC- Kennedy Home of Kinston; The Food Bank of ENC, and Religious Community Service of New Bern or Fort Barnwell Baptist Church. Arrangements are in the care of Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
