She retired from New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation after a career that spanned over 40 years, with the majority of her time being at Floyd Central High School. Colleen was raised in the Mormon church and continued her faith journey in the Baptist faith. She was always active in her church, teaching Sunday School and serving as the choir director. Colleen had many interests that included canning, sewing, quilting and fishing. She was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Cincinnati Reds, Indiana Hoosiers, BYU Cougars, as well as Floyd Central and Crawford County High Schools. Colleen was an excellent cook and loved being a Granny to many.
In addition to her parents, Colleen was also preceded in death by her husband, Sol "Tack" Esarey; daughter, Rosanne Esarey; siblings, Warren Branch, Verla Collins, LuJean Esarey, William Branch; granddaughter, Kelly Mutchler; great-grandson, Logan Evans; and daughter-in-law, Leslie Esarey.
Colleen is survived by her daughter, Sue McGill (Sam); sons, Bill Esarey, Joe Esarey (Nikki); grandchildren, Brucker, Lauren, Joe, Hannah, Elizabeth; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with burial to follow at Orchard Knob Cemetery in Alton, Indiana.
