CHILLICOTHE - James L. Appel Sr., age 87, of Chillicothe passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Jim was born on April 18, 1933, in Henry, IL, to Anton and Ellen (Reismeyer) Appel. He married Charlotte A. Ray on October 28, 1954, in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2008. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, two brothers and one son, Timothy R. Appel.
Surviving are his children, James L. Appel Jr. of Mukwonago, WI, Steven "Randy" (Amy) Appel of Sparta, WI, Cindy I. (Rob) Cain of Sarasota, FL, and Tracey L. (Terry) Genovese of Peoria, IL; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Jim worked for Caterpillar for 33 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery.
