Services for Luke Monroe Wood, 76, who died at his home in Duck Hill Monday, November 22, were held from the Baptist Church there at 2 Wednesday afternoon, November 23rd. The pastor, the Rev. J. M. Metts, officiated and burial followed in the Duck Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Garner Brothers' Funeral Home of Grenada.
Mr. Wood, a retired farmer, was a lifelong resident of Duck Hill.
He leaves five daughters, Mrs. Joe Tindall of Jackson, Mrs. Ellis Stewart, Oxford; Mrs. S. T. Shook, Jr., of Winona, Mrs. J. S. Cook of Harlingen, Texas, and Mrs. Edna S. Sides of Memphis; five sons, C. E. Wood of Moorhead, Guy Wood of Carrollton, Luke Monroe Wood, Jr., of Harlingen, Texas Grover W. Wood and George Wood, both of Duck Hill; three brothers, Doc Wood, Frank Wood and Ben Wood, all of Duck Hill; one sister, Mrs. Alex Beckwith of Carrollton; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
