Thomas Hardesty was the son of Jeremiah Jerome Hardesty and Cecilia Livers. He was born in Kentucky and moved to Randolph County, IL in his late teens. He married Caroline Skidmore about 1855 and they had 3 children, Sarah EMily born 1856, Jerome born 1859 and Harriet Ellen born 1863. He remained a devout Catholic and was buried in the church cemetery he attended when alive. His grave marker no longer exists though it is assumed he is buried near his mother.
