David A. Dean, 94, of State Route 46, husband of Brenda, passed away on March 6, 2021 at the Abraham House, Rome, following a brief illness.

David was born on January 8, 1927, in Detroit, MI, a son of Fay W. and Hilda Marcy Dean.

He returned to Boonville at the age of 6, graduating from Boonville High School with the Class of 1944.

A WWII veteran, David entered the US Navy on August 7, 1944 and was honorably discharged on August 26, 1946 as an Aviation Ordananceman Third Class.

Dave then returned to Boonville, and for 11 years was employed in building construction through the Union of Steamfitters, Rome. He was then employed at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome as a steam fitter, retiring in 1987. On August 5, 1978, David was united in marriage with Brenda Armstrong at the Griffiss Air Base Chapel.

A well-known and faithful 70 plus year member, David joined the Boonville Uriel Lodge # 165 F & A.M. in June 1948. He achieved the Third Degree Master Mason distinction, and was also a member of the Scottish Rite. He served as Worshipful Master in 1958 and 1968 for his local lodge, and was a former District Deputy Grand Master of Oneida County. David was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Patron of Boonville’s Selma Chapter in 1983. He was also a member of the Ziyara Shriners, where he was involved in the local parades, and sang the Star Spangled Banner before their annual circus. Dave loved his community and fellow man. He will be fondly remembered for his humor, wit and laugh; never did a conversation start or end without one of his many jokes.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Brenda, sisters-in-law: Betsy Dean, North Carolina, Jo (John) Blair, Virginia, Michelle (Kevin) Chrobak, Clinton, brother-in-law: Michael (Sheila) Armstrong, Endicott, several nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was predeceased by his brother Stuart.
