She emigrated to Texas at the age of 10 in 1846 with her family (see father's page for more info). The family settled in Schumannsville. Her mother and older sister were victims of the 1849 Cholera epidemic.
She married Christian Ferdinand Ludwig Kneese on 9 Jun 1851 at her family home in Schumannsville, Guadalupe County, Texas.
Louisa and Ludwig had thirteen children.
