James Charles Gosnell died at the residence of his daughter Mrs. C. H. Nelson, in this city; Tuesday afternoon, at, the age of 69 years, his death resulting from pneumonia.' Funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday afternoon, followed by Interment In the Ozan Cemetery at Bingen. Deceased was one of the oldest citizens of this section, having been ; born in Hempstead county, near Bingen, and having made his home in this section all his life. During his earlier life he was one of the most prominent business men of this city, having been engaged for a number of years in the mercantile business here. On account of bad health, he retired from active business several years ago, and since that time has been, much to himself, being seen on the street very little. In 1867 he was married to Miss Sarah White, who died a number of years ago, after becoming the mother of eight children, five of whom survive, being; J. A. Gosnell, Little Rock; R. L. Gosnell, Nashville; M. H. Gosnell, Stigler Okla.; Mrs. C. H. Nelson and Mrs. W. W. Gore, Nashville. Deceased is also survived by one brother, J. P. Gosnell, of Dequeen. Early in life Mr. Gosnell became a member of the Baptist church, of which he was a staunch member at the time of his death. Deceased was well known throughout this section, and has a large circle of friends who mourn his death. The News joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
