Brian Rosman Cate

Brian Cate, age 37, of Walker, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He was born March 7, 1983, in Grand Rapids, to Rosman Cate and Denise Sawicki. Brian graduated from East Kentwood High School with the class of 2001. He then went on to obtain ASE Certification as an Automobile Technician from Grand Rapids Community College.

Brian met the love of his life Tashina Speers in 2013 and they were married on July 28, 2018, in Ada, MI. He had a passion for cars and worked as an Automobile Technician. Brian enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, camping, boating, and snowboarding. He had hoped to pass along his joy of fishing to his sons and one day teach them to ride dirt bikes. Above all else Brian had a steadfast love for his children, wife and family. His loyal and gentle soul will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.

Brian is survived by his wife, Tashina; sons, Jaxon age 5 and Alexander age 1; father, Rosman (Heidi) Cate; mother, Denise Cate; brother, David (Amanda) Cate; parents-in-law, Louis and Cinda Zelenka; brother-in-law, Justin (Meredith) Speers; sister-in-law, Danielle Speers; niece, Parker Cate; nephews, Skyler, Brycen, Jaydon and Mason; uncle, Mark Sawicki; and aunt, Nikki (Bill fuller) Cate.

Per Brian’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held.

In honor of Brian and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his care team at Spectrum Health Hospice.
