EUDORA, AR - Graveside funeral services and interment for James Hugh "Jimmy" Overton, age 71 of Bastrop, Louisiana and formerly of Eudora, Arkansas will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora, Arkansas. Reverend Stan Wyant will officiate.
Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove, Louisiana.
Mr. Overton passed into eternal life on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, Louisiana.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Eudora, Arkansas. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Bastrop, Louisiana and Eudora Baptist Church in Eudora, Arkansas. He was a well known entrepreneur having owned several business including State Line Gas for 30 years. Jimmy never met a stranger and was known for his humor. He would do anything for anyone in need.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Hugh Franklin Overton; mother, Effie Omah (Chambless) Overton; and brother, David Overton.
He is survived by his significant other for 28 years, Vicki Yvette Mitchell of Bastrop, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Edward Overton, Sr. and Angela Overton of Fayetteville, Tennessee; grandson, Jonathan Edward Overton, Jr. and granddaughter, Charlotte Overton both of Fayetteville, Tennessee.
