LTC (Ret) William Pulsipher, Jr. (Bill) of Clifton, VA passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021 at the age of 72.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of over 34 years, Betty Jeanne, four children: Bill Pulsipher (Michelle), Aaron Pulsipher, Pamela Conte (Chris), and Kristen Sirois (Jamie). He also leaves behind 9 grandsons: Liam Pulsipher, Leyton Pulsipher, Matthew Conte, Daniel Conte, Zachary Conte, Jackson Sirois, Colton Sirois, Landon Sirois, and Boden Sirois. Bill is also survived by his sister, Amy Caputo (Mike). He was preceded in death by his Father (William), Mother (Joyce), and his brother (Eric).

Having served proudly and with distinction in the US Army, Bill earned several medals including the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was also awarded three medals for bravery from the Republic of Vietnam (The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with two bronze stars, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, and the Vietnamese Honor Medal 1st Class). Bill retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel in 1989.

Shortly after his retirement, Bill became active in his local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) posts. He took great pride in helping other veterans and their families.

After serving more than 25 years as an executive leader for several government consulting firms, Bill happily retired for a second time. He was an expert in defense and military intelligence, lending his knowledge to the companies and clients that he served.

He was an avid sports fan from an early age, leading to his participation in several high school and college sports. He enjoyed playing golf and found great joy in watching his children and grandchildren participate in school activities and sporting events. Everyone around him felt his unwavering support. In his later years, he and Betty Jeanne would travel many miles to cheer on their grandchildren and their teammates. His children, grandchildren and many in his ever-expanding circle affectionately called him Grandpa Bill, GPB, Grandpa, and Bop Bop.

Bill was a mentor, friend, American hero, father figure and a true gentleman. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Bill’s name to:
VFW Post 7589, Po Box 10206, Manassas, Virginia 20108
