William Vaughn “Bill” Benson, age 83 of North Tazewell, VA died Monday, March 1, 2021, at his home.
Born December 19, 1937, in Bishop, VA, he was a son of the late John Bernard Benson and Jeanette Morrow Benson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Margaret King Benson; three sisters, Bertha Benson Thompson, Evelyn Benson Graham, and Eleanor “Crickett” Benson Nash.
He is survived by one daughter, Tina Benson Blankenship and husband, Chris of North Tazewell, VA; one brother, John “Bug” Benson, and his pride and joys of this life: granddaughter, Natahsa Vaughn Blankenship Crouse, and husband, Dylan of Bluefield, VA and grandson, Nicholas Alan Blankenship of Bristol, TN. Bill had several nieces nephews and many special friends. One of his favorite topics and memories are of the “Bishop Boys” and all of their special times together.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM with the eulogy given by his brother in law, J.E. King. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers are Walter Graham, Johnny Graham, John Mundy, Jr., Jimmy King, Nick Blankenship, and Dylan Crouse. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Phillips, Ron Kiser, Mark Nash, and Benny Nash. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff and nurses at MSA Home Health and Hospice Care for the excellent care and love they gave to him during his illness.
