Sister of Antonio (Marisa) Balistreri and Francesca (Paul) Strycker. She will be dearly missed by her close friends and many nieces and nephews and their children. Preceded in death by her parents Andrea and Anna (nee Machi) Balistreri; Sister Francesca, Sister Maria (John) Faraciano, Sister Annetta (Ignazio d.) Aiello, Brother Gaetano (Maria), Brother Francesco, Brother Giuseppe (Angelina d.), Brother Giovanni (Josephine), and Nephew Andrew Aiello.
Rita immigrated to the United States from Sant’ Elia, Sicily in 1962. She originally lived in San Francisco, CA with her family before moving to Milwaukee, where she was married and lived with her loving husband Nunzio for 52 years. Rita was a skilled seamstress and was employed and retired from Gaspard Co. where she made vestments and paraments for use in churches. Cooking was her passion and she loved spending time in the kitchen, entertaining and visiting with friends and family, especially on Sundays. Rita fully lived her faith, and days always started and ended in prayer. Mamma/Nonna will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visitation is scheduled from 9:00am – 10:30am on Thursday March 4 th at Harder Funeral Home, 18700 W Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be held after visitation at 11:00am at St. Dominic Parish, 18255 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield (Face masks are required).
A private interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
