She was born in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Harvey Edison Crawley and Bertha Self Crawley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Eagle Black, her son, Gregory Scott Black, and her sister, Barbara Crawley Grant.
Mrs. Black is survived by her son, Nelson Keith Black; her grandchildren, Spencer Keith Black (Hallie), Ashley Victoria Black (Will Carver), Erin Black, and Courtney Gail Black; her great-grandsons, Hunter Carver and Chase Carver.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Black will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Cleveland Memorial Park, 1225 College Ave, Shelby, NC 28152. Pastor Jessie Smith will officiate. Due to the current health crisis, the family requests that attendees wear masks and practice social distancing. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 8020 Bellhaven Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28216.
