He was a native of Belmont, NC, and is survived by his mother, Elene Hughes; his sisters, Barbara Bingham, Joann Gittens, Karen McCoig, and Kathy Barlow; many aunts and uncles; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Rev. Robert Gittens, IV will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. Pallbearers will include Chris Hughes, Robbie Gittens, Austin Barlow, Holden Barlow, Jason Bingham, and Alex McCoig. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is caring for Mr. Hughes' family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Gaston County, 3065 Columbia St., Gastonia, NC 28054.
