BELLEVILLE, Ill., Nov. 29. -- Police will apply tomorrow for a warrant charging murder against Charles Koehr, 64 years old, who "confessed" to Chicago police last night that thirty-five years ago he killed his younger brother, Henry, 14 years old, because the lad had taken a job as roustabout in a saloon.

Interview with Louis A. Koehr of April 12, 2000: Father Lou confirmed that Uncle Charles died in prison in Illinois. When prison officials called his father, Louis A. Koehr, to ask whether he wanted custody of the body for burial, Louis declined.

Box 112, Joliet, Illinois 60432 1-815-727-3607 · POC Haydee Perkins 1-815-727-3607 x. 6602, Warden's Office · TELCON with Will County Clerk (1-815-740-4615) of 6 June 2000 confirmed that Charles Koehr was buried at Stateville. · As directed by Haydee Perkins, Erma and I met her at the Gatehouse (sign" Staff Only) for transport to the grave of Charles Koehr. Her immediate superior in the Warden's Office, Arlene McLaughlin, accompanied Haydee. We were driven in a Correctional Center van driven by Major Joe Inendino of the Stateville CC. While waiting in the office for the CC officials to come down, a prisoner informed us that he had just cut the grass at the cemetery yesterday. According to documents received from Illinois State Archives in Springfield, Charles Koehr was received at Menard Prison on 2.26.37, transferred to Joliet (Stateville) on 5.26.37, and died in Stateville on 8.23.42. His death certificate confirmed that he was buried at Stateville. · Charles Koehr's grave was one of about 250+ located South of the CC off Caton Farm Road, on CC property but not within the walls. The cemetery was very well maintained with uniform concrete stones. Photos were taken of Charles' stone with me and with the CC officials.
