Jerome Jenkins
May 24, 1954 — Jan. 27, 2021
Jerome 'Jay' Jenkins, 66, passed away on Jan. 27, 2021. He was a caring husband and a father of three.
Jerome was born in Chicago, Illinois, along with his identical twin, Tyrone. His loving parents, Louise and Fred Jenkins, raised their family in the small Chicago suburb of Phoenix, Illinois.
After high school, Jerome joined the Air Force, which led to many years traveling between Northern California and Japan.
In Japan, he met his wife Kazuko, and they raised three children in a multicultural environment.
Jerome retired from the Air Force after 20 years in 1992, but worked as a flight simulator technician until he retired from the private sector in 2020.
In his final years, Jerome spent his time going to NBA games and concerts with his wife, spoiling his grandchildren, and caring for his family across the country.
Jerome was stubbornly selfless, not always expressing his feelings vocally, but showing a tremendous amount of love through his actions. He had an enormous heart and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kazuko; children, Kevin, Shaunda and Earvin; sisters, Jeanette Bridges and Sarah Taylor; brother, Joe Jenkins; as well as his five grandchildren, Joven, Jayden, Shaia, Noel and Veyda.
Jerome was preceded in death by his brother, Tyrone Jenkins; sister, Shirley Jenkins; and parents, Fred and Louise Jenkins.
Funeral services will be private.
