1941 - 2021
Bonny Lyon, of Mt. Pleasant, was born February 25, 1941, in Beal City, Michigan daughter of the late Julius and Christina (Fox) Bierschbach and entered eternal life on the 80th anniversary of her birth, February 25, 2021.
After graduating from Beal City High School in 1959, Bonny married the love of her life, Robert F. Lyon on August 20, 1960, at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Beal City.
Bonny was an incredible woman with a strong sense of faith and family. She exemplified this by hosting her family and friends for numerous gatherings, spending time with grandchildren, and attending their school events and extracurricular activities. Bonny was an extraordinary seamstress who created and sewed countless outfits, dresses, and costumes for her children and grandchildren. She sewed for C&O sportswear for over 30 years and designed many tapestries for Sacred Heart Church where she was a faithful member for many years and oversaw the decorating committee for two years. She enjoyed playing cards, painting, golfing, and bowling.
Every year she looked forward to her annual trip to Paradise, MI with her four sisters, but her passion was caring for her family and grandchildren. Bonny was the most selfless and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that anyone could ask for. She will be deeply missed.
Bonny is survived by her husband, Robert; five children and their spouses, Karen and Mike Judd of Mt. Pleasant and their daughters Ashley, Katelyn, and Grace - Michael and Jenni Lyon of Mt. Pleasant and their children, Zack and Lauren – Sue and Joe Yoder of Mt. Pleasant and their children, Chris and Jamie – Greg and Tammi Lyon of Kentwood and Julie Lyon and Chelsea Tenwalde of Mt. Pleasant; siblings and their spouses, Gerald and Geri Bierschbach of Lake Isabella, Richard and Lola Bierschbach of Wyoming, Judy (and the late Gary) Schumacher of Beal City, Diane and Tom Schumacher of Mt. Pleasant, William and Sharon Bierschbach of Texas, Glen Bierschbach and Ann Gross of Fowler, Kathy and Ron Bontrager of Beal City, Bernie and Amy Bierschbach of Beal City, and Barb and Tom Diehm of Remus; numerous nieces and nephews; best friend, Rozi Saunders; and many in-laws who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Christina Fox; brother and in-laws, Tom and Carol Bierschbach and Gary Schumacher; nephews, Joseph and John Bierschbach; and parents in-law, Wayne and Mildred Lyon.
A Funeral Mass for Bonny will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant and Deacon Larry Fussman assisting and will be streamed live on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
