On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, Ed Hoffman, a loving brother, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 74.

Edward Louis Hoffman was born on December 11, 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Leon and Elsie Hoffman. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Louisiana Tech and went on to become a middle school science teacher and coach. Ed was an educator for many years, and in his retirement, he continued to share his love and passion for knowledge with his family. He had an amazing mind for numbers and statistics—especially sports statistics. He loved baseball and football. As an avid Alabama and Bear Bryant fan, Ed enjoyed cheering on his favorite team to victory year after year. Ed was a compassionate person who never hesitated to help those in need. He was a lifelong caregiver for his mother and continued to care for others in his north Bossier community.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents Leon L. Hoffman, Jr. and Elsie Carter Hoffman.

He is survived by his favorite aunt, Nancy Carter Cordell of Hallsville, TX and favorite uncle Harvey Hoffman of Hammond, LA. He is also survived by his brother, Charles A. Hoffman and wife Kay of Benton and his sister, Sandra Schertenleib and husband Kurt of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by five nieces, Natalie Hanson and husband Dr. Peter Hanson of Eau Claire, WI, Carole Goyne and husband Scott of Sonoma, CA, Jennifer Lawrence and husband Erik of Bossier City, Sandy McCathern and husband Mike of Bossier City, and Cheryl Brown and husband Joseph of Colorado Springs, CO. Ed has eleven great-nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

The immediate family will hold graveside services for Ed on Tuesday, March 2nd at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Park officiated by Father Karl Daigle of St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton, Louisiana.
