She married Lawrence Edwin Allen on May 17, 1929, in Iowa City, Iowa. They had three children during their marriage: Lawrence Edwin Allen Jr. 1930–2015, Freddy V Allen 1933–, Shirley Lou Allen 1935–2013. She died on April 6, 1983, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 86.
