Mr. Haluzak was born on Sept. 30, 1936, at Bismarck ND, a son to Wasyl and Mary Fedrock Haluzak. He married Geneva Abbott on Dec. 31, 1956 in Watseka while he was home on leave from the U.S. Army.
She preceded him in death on Au., 18, 2015.
Surviving ar a daughter, Candace (James) Hagman of Gig Harbor, Wash. A son Kenneth (Ann) Haluzak of Tolono. 3 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and 2 sisters, Stephanie Cox of Bellevue, Wash and Dora Clouse of Concord, Calif.
He was preceded in death by 5 siblings.
He served in the U.S. Army from June 1956 to June 1958.
He began teaching 5th grade and coaching junior high sports in 1964, he then went on to become a social worker in 1967 at East Moline State Hospital.
He moved to Mahomet in 1968, then graduated with a masters degree in social work from the University of Illinois in 1970 and began working at DCFS that same year.
In 1972 he became a social worker for Unit 4 School District until his retirement in 2000.
During his summer away from school he was a handyman helping many in the area. He also enjoyed winemaking, bowling and playing basketball.
