HOMER, LA: A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Amelia Culverhouse Ingram, age 86, at Andrew Chapel Cemetery in Fryeburg, LA, on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Pruitt, officiating.

Mrs. Amelia was born April 20, 1934, in Fryebury, LA, to Price and Jessie Bass Culverhouse. Her Homecoming Day was Sunday, February 21, 2021, in Homer, LA. Mrs. Amelia was one of twelve children and became the family cook at age 13 for her household, plus worked the fields. Her dad wanted turnup greens on the table everyday at the noon meal. She was known for her famous homemade vegetable soup. Mrs. Amelia’s children and grands knew if she said “Hear now!,” they were to immediately stop in their tracks, listen and obey. She tried every crazy diet known to man to stay healthy and fit. Playing the autoharp at home was a hobby she really enjoyed. Being a member of the Evening Light Tabernacle, she served her Lord there with an occasional song from her heart. No one ever had to guest what she was thinking, because she was quick to let you or anyone know what was on her mind.

Mr. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings; and three sons, Russell Blake, Ellis Ray Blake and William May.

She is survived by her two daughter, Phyllis Roncali and husband Jerry and Leila Ingram all of Homer; four sons, Johnathon Blake of Downsville, LA, Rickey Ingram of Homer, Nathan Ingram of Homer, Carl Ingram of Homer; brother, Cleaty Culverhouse of Sibley, LA; eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
