Actor. He was known for his numerous character roles on television from the 1950s to the 1980s. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1949, he studied drama at the HB Studio in Greenwich Village in New York City. He later went around the country, performing at the Repertory Theater. He went on to perform on the theatrical stage in numerous productions. In 1957, he made his television debut on the television movie "There Shall Be No Night." His television career would continue until the end of 1980s with such credits as "Naked City," "Car 54, Where Are You?," "Judd for the Defense," "Mission: Impossible," "The Partridge Family," "Maude," "Crossings," and "St. Elsewhere." He also appeared in such films as "Uncle Vanya," (1957) "Invitation to a Gunfighter," (1964) "The Candidate," (1972) "Reds," (1981) and "Fat Man and Little Boy." (1989)
