Ruth Lucille Compton, 87, died Oct. 18, 2007 at Consulate Health Care. She was born in Chicago and lived in Vero Beach since 1954, coming from the Chicago area.

Before retirement, she worked as a switchboard operator for Indian River Memorial Hospital in the early 1950s and then as a school bus driver for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
