Loving wife, devoted mother, and artist extraordinaire passed from this life to be with her Savior, in her home with family and husband at her side. Her giving heart and generous spirit touched countless lives. She never hesitated to reach out to strangers and friends with a gentle offering of kindness and a warm smile. Her acts of kindness would endure in the lives of those she affected. Years later, her children continue to hear many of these people relating the stories of her generous acts. Her outstanding painted portraits depict subjects with the same kindness in their eyes as she showed to so many. Marie's beauty placed her in the category of a movie star. However, her inner character easily eclipsed her outer beauty and was the defining feature that endeared her to so many. Her calling in life was known by all who knew Marie - it was raising her children. Her patience with her seven children knew no bounds as she brought them up with love and guided them to a strong Christian faith. Her strength as she faced the challenges of motherhood and life was truly something to behold. She loved her family and husband fiercely and with all her huge heart. Her friends and family will miss her dearly, but we are assured in knowing that she has gone to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Marie was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Woodrow Wilson Gilbert and Esther Mae (Fish) Gilbert. Her childhood home was in Alamogordo, New Mexico, and she lived briefly in Wichita, Kansas. At age 12, she, with her parents and sister, Evelyn June, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. While visiting her grandmother in Hammon, Oklahoma, she met the man she would marry, C. L Pratt. They wed in 1957 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Marie and C. L. eventually settled in Jennings, Oklahoma in 1969. Marie is preceded in death by her father, Woodrow "Woody" Gilbert, her mother, Esther Fish, grandson Justin Pratt, and son-in-law Darrell Lowrance. She is survived by her husband, seven children, thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
