Colleen Darnell Jones, age 91, of Elkin passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at her residence.
Mrs. Jones was born December 26, 1929, in Surry County to Robert Lee and Connie Ruth Talley Darnell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Ret. Robert Samuel “Bob” Jones; sisters, Joann Crater, Nancy Price; brother, James “Jim” Darnell.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby Jones, Gordon Jones; daughter, Stacey Darnell and husband Donnie; brother-in-law, Joe Price; grandchildren, Elizabeth Darnell, Dylan Jones, Joey Jones, Hillary Jones; great-granddaughter, Olyvia Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice, Yadkin Valley Home Health caregivers, Lynn Alford, Gayle Steele, Faye Cain, and Retha Holbrook; and her many friends for their love, support, and care.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, February 21, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Brad Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. Mrs. Jones will lie-in-state from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 118 N. Elkin Dr., Elkin, NC 28621.
