Robert Herman Beckwith, 90, of Wood County passed away Dec. 22, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Wood County, a son of the late John Hunter Beckwith and Theresa Rebholz Beckwith. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed Special Olympics, golf, and bowling in which he was very instrumental in starting the seniors bowling league. He also was inducted into the West Virginia Bowling Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva B. Cross Beckwith of Parkersburg; daughter, Theresa "Pat" Wright of Parkersburg; three brothers, John H. Jr., Carl and Lewis Beckwith; granddaughter, Deb Motley Holder; three great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Kayla and Mychal; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Charles and Jackie Beckwith.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father Mark Gallipeau as celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
