BOGALUSA - Funeral arrangements have been completed for George Dykes, a native and resident of Bogalusa, who died yesterday in Bogalusa Community Medical Center at the age of 55. He was the former owner and operator of George's Front End Shop on Columbia Street, Bogalusa.
He is survived by his wife, Lana Dykes; two daughters, Ashley Dykes and Samantha Dykes Crain and her husband, Brian Crain; a step-daughter, Trina Lewis; a son, Timothy George Dykes and his wife, Rose; and a step-son, Marty Lewis, all of Bogalusa; eight grandchildren, Amber, Heather and Summer Dykes, Jonathan and Joshua Crain, Katelyn, Kassidy and Jesse Lewis; five brothers, Harvey and Russell Dykes of Bogalusa, Les and Lester Dykes of Pine and Burt Dykes of Buras; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Plessie and Velma Dykes; a brother, Dent Dykes; and a sister, Azzie Temples.
Visitation will be today from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, continuing tomorrow at 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Billy Galloway will officiate, with interment in Nobles Cemetery at Pine.
