Marilyn Jane Phillips was born to John Herman Eckert and Selma Margaret Flechtner on August 22, 1930, at Palmer, Nebraska, and passed away on February 12, 2021, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 21 days. She was one of 3 children in the family.

Marilyn attended country school through the 3rd grade when her family moved to a farm near Fullerton, Nebraska. She then attended Fullerton Public Schools and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1947. Upon completion of high school, she attended college in Central City, Nebraska for 2 years. Marilyn taught in rural schools around Fullerton and Central City for 15 years.

On May 27, 1956, she was married to Carl W. Phillips of Aurora, Nebraska. They were part of Aurora community for 9 years before moving to Geneva, Nebraska. They had 2 sons, Bobby and Billy. Marilyn was employed as a babysitter for 2 years before taking a job with the Fillmore County Hospital as a dishwasher for 25 years.

Her husband carl was diagnosed with cancer and lived 3 years before his passing on July 29, 1990.

She is survived by her sons, Billy Phillips and Bobby Phillips.

She is preceded by her parents, John H. & Selma M. Eckert and numerous other family members.
