PHILLIPS, CARL WAYNE—Carl Wayne Phillips, the son of Caleb and Laura Worcester Phillips, was born at Aurora on April 13, 1931. He passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva on July 29, 1990, at the age of 59 years, 3 months and 16 days.

Carl grew up in the Aurora area and attended the Aurora Public Schools. In his senior year of high school, Carl enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on March 19, 1952, and was honorably discharged March 18, 1954.

He was a military policeman while he was in the service. After leaving the service he was employed by Cecil Ross at the Aurora Phillips 66 gasoline station.

On May 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Jane Eckert in Fullerton. This home was blessed by two sons, Bill and Bob.

Carl drove a feed truck for Walnut Grove out of Aurora then became manager of Walnut Grove and February of 1965 was transferred to the Geneva area, where he worked for 15 years. He then worked at B. H. & L. Grain Co., YDC and Reinke Irrigation. He also worked for Sunstrand Aviation at York, until failing health due to cancer prevented him to continue his work there.

Carl led a full and happy life. He was a loving husband and father, his greatest love were his sons, Bill and Bob, and being able to follow their active lives. He enjoyed being outdoors and helping neighbors and friends whenever possible, such as mowing yards and helping with snow removal. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb and Laura Phillips; four sisters; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Bill and Bob; brother, Paul and his wife, Betty and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Tuesday, July 31, with Rev. Stanley Rider officiating.

Mrs. Bernita Lomax accompanied Curtis Prater, who sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," and "How Great Thou Art."

Pallbearers were A.R. Doughtery, Lambert Hopken, Wesley McMullen, Dwight Ross, Larry Westerbuhr and Dean Willey.

Military presentation of the flag with committal services were conducted from the Geneva Public Cemetery.
